Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes)

Tteokbokki is one of the popular Korean street foods. Chewy rice cakes are cooked in a simmering thick and spicy sauce that is perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner. We adjusted this recipe so everyone can cook this without buying any additional ingredients you may not have at home. It only takes 6 ingredients and a little bit of patience. The end result is umami rich and sure to bring a feel of comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups rice flour

  • 1 cup boiling water*

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


Sauce

  • 4 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 3 teaspoon soy sauce

  • 6 cloves garlic thinly sliced


Notes:

*Adjust the amount of water until a smooth dough can form
